I’ve always believed that the spaces we live in—and the art and objects we choose to surround ourselves with—have the power to change the way we feel.
My work lives at the intersection of art, interiors, and education. Whether I’m creating a painting, designing a room, or teaching someone how to approach their own home, my goal is the same: to help people live more beautifully and more personally.
To me, luxury isn’t necessarily about expense. Luxury is edited, thoughtful, and expertly curated. It’s choosing what matters, understanding why it works, and creating a home that feels unmistakably your own.
A Life in Art & Interiors
I am an artist, interior designer, former professor of Interior Design, and founder of Lori Brunner Art, a multidisciplinary design studio devoted to the art of living beautifully.
My approach to interiors is rooted in the idea that the most compelling rooms are collected, not decorated. I love the tension created by mixing periods, styles, color, pattern, art, and pieces with history. A room shouldn’t look as though everything arrived on the same day. It should feel layered, personal, and a little unexpected.
Art is an essential part of that philosophy. I create work meant to be lived with—paintings that add emotion, energy, color, and individuality to a room. My Love Letter to La Jolla collection reflects my connection to the landscape and spirit of La Jolla, while other bodies of work explore different expressions of color, form, and place.
My La Jolla Home
My own home in La Jolla became an opportunity to bring these ideas together in a deeply personal way.
Rather than designing it around a single style, I approached the house as a collection—combining art, vintage and contemporary furnishings, pattern, color, and objects gathered over time. My own artwork appears throughout the house and is integral to the rooms rather than something added at the end.
The home has been featured in AD Italia, House & Garden SA, and ELLE Decoration, photographed by Douglas Friedman, and featured in a full home tour on Homeworthy.
From Professor to Teacher Again
Teaching has always been an important part of my creative life.
As a former professor of Interior Design, I learned that good design can be taught. There are principles behind rooms that feel balanced, sophisticated, and cohesive—but learning those principles also gives you the confidence to break the rules and develop your own point of view.
That belief inspired my Interior Design Academy.
I created The Academy to take what I know as a designer, artist, and educator and make it accessible to people who want to create extraordinary homes of their own.
I don’t want to teach you simply what to buy or what is currently in style. I want to teach you how to see, how to make decisions, and how to understand why a room works.
The Art of Living Beautifully
Ultimately, everything I create comes back to one idea:
Beauty matters.
The rooms we live in become the backdrop to our lives. The art we choose becomes part of our everyday experience. And a thoughtfully created home can make ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
My hope is to help you imagine, aspire, and indulge in the art of living beautifully.
